    XVII International Symposium
    which will take place on September 25-27, 2024,
    in Kutaisi, Georgia
    The Theme of XVII International Symposium is:
    Literatures of Small Countries and Challenges of the Modern Global World
    Symposium Sessions:
    World Literature and National Literatures;
    National Literature and Regional Literatures;
    Writing of Ethnic Minorities: Local and Global Challenges;
    Translation as a Form of Intercultural Communication;
    Publishing Policy in the Field of Literature of Small Countries;
    Literature as a Creative Industry;
    Contemporary Approaches of Commercialization of Literature;
    Round-Table Sessions:
    Kutaisi – the Birthplace of Georgian Modernism.
    Writers from Kutaisi and the History of modern Georgian Literature (prose, poetry, dramaturgy, etc.).
    Avant-garde and Small Countries: Round table session dedicated to the 100 anniversary of H2SO4 (Moderator – Bela Tsipuria)
    Literatures of small nations or small literatures? (Moderator – Yordan Luckanov)
    The following events are planned for the symposium’s participants:
    Reception ceremony of symposium participants in Kutaisi City Hall
    Meeting with local scientific circles;
    Meeting with contemporary Georgian writers, translators and publishers;
    Visits to local museums and galleries.
    The Symposium will be held in the in-person format.
    Working languages of the Symposium are: Georgian, English.

    Abstract Details:
    Abstract must be submitted in English;
    No more than 250 words, Font- Sylfaen, Size 10, Line spacing – single.
    The duration of the presentation (except plenary presentations) – 15 min
    The deadline for submitting abstracts is May 30, 2024.
    Attention! The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to June 10, 2024.
    Incorrectly filled application forms (registration form + an abstract) will not be accepted!
    The Organizing Committee preserves the right to select symposium participants.
    The approved participants will be notified until June 30, 2024.
    Registration fee for approved participants:
    ● In-person participation – € 90
    ● In-person participation with a co-author – € 150 (for both authors)
    ● Students participation in-person – € 60
    ● Students participation with a co-author – € 100 (for both authors)
    (Additionally, upon request by the organizing committee, students must present an official document confirming their status).
    The registration fee includes:
    Featured papers will be published in Sjani (The Thoughts), an annual Georgian scientific journal of literary theory and comparative literature which is included in CEEOL, VABB-SHW, ERIH PLUS and EBSCO.
